As I was doing my usual scanning of local news articles the other day I ran across THIS article on the New Haven Office Market. The article quotes a Cushman and Wakefield quarterly report that states that New Haven has the lowest office vacancy rate in the country for 1Q 2009. They quote the office vacancy rate for New Haven at 9.2%. Of course this looks great to see New Haven with the lowest office vacancy rate in the country but then I read THIS article from the April Business New Haven Magazine. They also quote a Cushman and Wakefield quarterly report but they list the office vacancy rate at 13.5%?
So what’s the deal? Is one report referring to New Haven County and the other just the city of New Haven?
So I looked for more information and found THIS report from Colliers Dow and Condon from the register where they quote the New Haven office vacancy at 13.4%. Collier’s report just covers the City of New Haven.
Final Analysis: The New Haven office vacancy rate is somewhere between 9.2% and 13.5% which is still much better than Hartford which is at 19%.
